About Author :
LOUIS UNTERMEYER [1885 -1977] was a poet, anthologist, and editor.
From 1911 through 1977 he authored or edited nearly one-hundred books.
Many schools used his anthologies to introduce students to modern poetry.
In 1956 the Poetry Society of America awarded Untermeyer a Gold Medal.
In 1961, he was honored as the fourteenth U.S. Poet Laureate (Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress 1961-63).
Indiana University's Lilly Library hosts his collected works.
