Chapter 01. Association

Common sense informs us that who we associate with dictates much about our future success or frustration. Who you associate with in life will affect what kind of person you are or will become. How important, then, to have counsel from God in this most critical area:

• Oh the joys of those who do not hang around with sinners... (Psalm 1)
• Don't give holy things to depraved men. Don't give pearls to swine! They will trample the pearls and turn and attack you. (Matthew 7:6)
• For the Lord gives wisdom!...He shows how to distinguish right from wrong. How to find the right decision every time...You will be given sense to stay away from evil men who want you to be their partners in crime... (Proverbs 2:6-15)
• "Spurn the careless kiss of a prostitute...Stick to the path and be safe. Don't sidetrack." (Proverbs 4:20-27)

Have goals and standards for your life that keep you from simply falling for bad relationships and wrong associations.  A lot of so-called "friends" are really offering little more than the "careless kiss of a prostitute"; they want you for their own gain or satisfaction and aren't really thinking of you. Don't get sidetracked from the worthy and high goals you set for your life.

Chapter 02. Body Language

Body language can sometimes be the key to Social Power.  But not in this case: "Let me describe for you a worthless and a wicked man: first he is a constant liar; and he signals his true intentions to his friends with eyes and feet and fingers." (Prov. 6:12)

Chapter 03. Blessing

God told Abraham: "You will be a blessing to many others." This is the destiny of everyone who is serious about doing service for God. Your life will be a blessing.  Even the thief on the cross became a blessing in his first moment as a Christian because he comforted Jesus when no one else was was comforting Him. Evidently, at least to a certain extent, the rules of social blessing work themselves out through authentic Christianity. The thief had not taken Social Power 101. So be encouraged: "You will be a blessing to many others." (Gen. 12:2)
