He discovered that 100 words comprise approximately 1/2 of all publications written, and 300 words make up 65% of all written material.
Fry developed his list based on the facts and he worked to inspire young children to memorize these sightwords to jump-start the reading process. Fry’s sight words lists are widely used today and highly respected by both teachers and parents.
