EFIS-App for iPad

This is EFIS-App for iPad, an app that makes building your own home-built cockpits with X-Plane amazingly easy. Here is how it works: In X-Plane 10 for desktop, go to the SETTINGS menu, INTERNET screen. From there, enter the IP address of your iPad or iPads (up to 4 for now). Each of those iPads, if running EFIS-App for iPad, can then show different instruments. Then, you will have X-Plane for desktop running the flight model and visuals, and a small handful of iPads running as instrument panels! This makes it possible for you to make your own flight-simming cockpits at home! For the next step, build your own cockpit out of wood or fiberglass with a projector screen in front, and have X-Plane for desktop running the overhead projector to project the out-the-window visuals image onto the screen. Use CH-Products or Saitek joysticks for flight control, and a small handful of iPads with this app for the instrument panel! You can then very easily have a really amazing home-built sim. Right now, you get a few EFIS's and a few standby gages... we will add more instruments over time to this app so you can build ever-more-complex and complete panels with nothing but iPads hooked to a master copy of X-Plane! Now get a few iPads, a projector or some big flat-screen, some carpentry hardware, and get cracking on building your own flight-sim cockpit! We have made it easy!

Then, to try something REALLY cool, select the Evo-Controller avionics. This is an avionics display that has an artificially-intelligent auto-land system! Here is how it works: At any time, you hit the 'Autoland: Servos' button, and the plane will run simulated glides down to every airport within gliding range of the airplane. It will score the outcome of each glide, pick the one that is most likely to have a safe landing, and then steer the plane down that path for landing! This is an artificially-intelligent auto-land system... quite a fascinating piece of AI to experiment with! This code is actually an early prototype of what we are testing in REAL airplanes now!!!!

Giant Fighting Robots

Giant Fighting Robots is a complex combat simulator with accurate physics!

From the creators of X-Plane comes a really FUN new combat sim that really turns your Android device into a mini game-station of pretty significant power... THIS is the virtual-reality combat sim that many of you have been waiting for.

Installs directly to SD card (Requires Android 2.2(Froyo) )
NOTE: Additional resources will be downloaded automatically on first run.

Giant Fighting Robots for iPad

From the creators of X-Plane comes a really FUN new combat sim that really turns the iPad into a mini game-station of significant power... THIS is the virtual-reality combat sim that many of you have been waiting for.

Much like X-Plane, Giant Fighting Robots is fairly complex, with pretty accurate physics... but being in a Giant Fighting Robot with Guided Machine Guns, Lightning-Guns, Gatling Lasers, and a dozen or so other weapons, trying to defend yourselves against artificially-intelligent, heavily-armed alien fighter and bomber spider-bots on a dozen foreign worlds... well, the action gets quite a bit more intense.

You will start off in the Genesis-Class ATAW (All Terrain Attack Walker), which is nothing more than a modified cargo-walker with a few modified aircraft air-to-ground guns mounted on the top. It is a pretty silly defense against the alien attack, but it is all humanity can throw together on short notice. As you defeat the alien invaders at progressively harder levels, the Human Cascade will have time to develop increasingly powerful ATAWs and weapon systems, making each of your future combat engagements more complex and violent as you move into faster moving ATAWs like the Huron, or heavier ones like the Galaxy or Titanic, and move into command of really frightening weapons systems like the Flame-Thrower, High-Capacitance Laser, Ion Cannon, Lightening Gun, or Guided Torpedo. Can you handle it? Can you WIN it? We can.. but it isn't easy!

Running of the Bulls

Have you ever wanted to run with the Bulls in Spain, but without the dreaded anal gorings? Well, now is your chance!

With real 3-D graphics and physics, you will really feel like you are getting stampeded by the bulls! You WILL be gored... but how long can you stay at the front of the pack and avoid the inevitable?

As they say in this type of game: You don't have to the be the fastest... you just can't be the slowest.

Space Shuttle

This is SPACE SHUTTLE, with full instructions at www.X-Plane.com. Based on the X-Plane engine, SPACE SHUTTLE lets you really get some cool bits of the Space Shuttle experience, in completely real-time simulation. Nothing is compressed or made unrealistic, but instead the 8.5-minute launch (to 400,000 ft) and last 12 minutes of re-entry (from 200,000 ft, Mach-10) are accurately represented.

Here are the options:

->Launch: This option lets you WATCH the launch in real-time, from 10 seconds left in the count-down, through orbiter-roll, through SRB-separation, though External-Tank separation, right through to low-orbit insertion, at 17,500 mph at 400,000 ft. You won't FLY this launch, but the times and speeds and events are accurately laid out for you to see, so you can finally see what happens AFTER the shuttle leaves sight of the cameras on it's flights to space! REALISTIC depiction of the Earth is included, including realistic atmospheric visibility and Earth curvature, so you can see what the view is REALLY like when riding a rocket from sea-level to 400,000 ft.

->ISS Docking. This is a docking sim that gives you full freedom in all 6 dimensions: X, Y, Z, Pitch, Heading, and Roll... This is as tricky as space-flight gets, and YOU will attempt to dock with the ISS... can you handle it? Shuttle and ISS geometry and docking-points are rendered accurately, so you will see the real scale and geometry of both craft.

->Final Approach: Now THIS is one you can FLY like a plane! You will be placed at about 18,000 ft, about 10 or 15 miles short of the runway at Edwards... you will fly clear down to landing on your own! Any decent flight-simmer should be able to handle this one, no problem.

->Near and Distant Re-Entries: THESE are ones that you can fly yourself, and these ones are tricky! I can do them, though, so I know you can, too! You will start off as far as about 600 miles out, at 200,000 ft, Mach-10, well above almost all of the atmosphere, and guide the Orbiter down, by hand, clear to Edwards. The instrumentation in the cockpit is similar to the instrumentation in the real Orbiter, so you will be following the speed, energy, and altitude curves from 200,000 ft all the way down to landing as you S-turn through the stratosphere at Hypersonic speeds. (I am not even slightly kidding or exaggerating. That is the re-entry procedure). Along with pretty accurate instrumentation, help-tips are presented to you in real-time, during the re-entry, to help guide you down, so you should be able to handle it, with enough practice, even if you are not currently familiar with shuttle re-entry procedures. Once you get some practice and get good enough, you will actually start your GLIDE at 600 miles out, 100 miles up, Mach-10, and hand-fly the glider clear to touch-down right on the runway, all in real-time, with pretty accurate physics. It is unlike any plane you have ever flown, or any game you have ever played, but I can do it every time, and one astronaut has hand-flown the entire procedure (rather than leaving it to the autopilot) one time in the history of the shuttle program.

Can YOU do it?

X-Plane Airliner

This is X-Plane-Airliner, a new version of X-Plane for the iPhone that simulates Airliners and the relatively long-range, instrument-capable flying that they do.

X-Plane-Airliner comes with:

The Boeing 777: The gold standard for modern airliner design and efficiency.
The Boeing 747: The big double-decker 4-engine classic Liner of the sky.
The Airbus A-380: The largest airplane in the world, with fly-by-wire controls.
The Boeing 787: The new carbon-fiber, high-bypass, ultra-efficient harbinger of the next wave of airline travel.
The MD-80: A well-known twin-engine pusher workhouse referred to by pilots as the 'Mad Dog'
The TriStar: A nice-flying older 3-engine bird that, while reliable, was retired for being a bit expensive to operate.

As well, X-Plane Airliner gives you control of throttle, flaps, speedbrakes, and trim, giving you much more control over these incredible machines than you can get in the regular X-Plane for iPhone.

In addition to the additional flight controls, the cockpit is a full glass EFIS system, with airspeed, heading, altitude, vertical speed, Mach number, DME, and HSI with localizer and glideslope displayed in the same manner as the real airliners. As well, a moving map glass display gives you complete situational awareness as you fly, as you find in the real airliners.

The regular X-Plane for iphone has 3 airports and 4 NAVAIDs, and a flight region of about 60 by 60 miles. With X-Plane-Airliner, you get 42 NAVAIDs, 98 airports, and about 60 by 180 miles to fly in in the default scenery area! That default flight region in X-Plane Airliner spans from San Diego clear up to Edwards Air Force Base! This large flying area, combined with the 98 airports and 42 NAVAIDs, lets you practice relatively longer flights in any weather, with glass-cockpit 'EFIS' instrumentation and moving maps in the cockpit to make it all easy as you fly the Big Birds across the scenic terrain of Southern California, enjoying the view if you like to do that, or in hardball IFR conditions, using the glass instrumentation to fly the airliners down to minimums in clouds and fog and turbulence at night... or anything in between. As well, a handful of other flying areas are available to try your skills in various different parts of the world!

This is by far the most powerful app we have released for the iPhone, and we are making it available cheap for now so that everyone can get it!

X-Plane Airshow

Now THIS is a fun app.
Here is the name of the game: Hop in any of the 6 jets and warbirds that come with the app and go fly an airshow routine.
For your first flight, you will want to do a VERY simple routine, trust us.
Then, when done, go to the settings screen and hit the SAVE FLIGHT button at the bottom.
The flight you just flew is saved to your pd or phone.
Then, select take-off at that airport again and you will see another plane sitting there on the runway, ready to fly!
That plane will fly the exact routine that you just flew… and now you will fly formation with him through the airshow routine!
This is much harder than it sounds, because the flight dynamics are realistic, and airshow flying is among the most challenging in the world.
If you can hold formation all the way through the flight, right down to landing, then you will get a score based on how tightly you held formation.
Can you fly an amazing airshow routine in an F-15, and then do it again IN FORMATION?
The challenge is EXTREME. We can promise you that.

X-Plane Apollo

This is X-Plane APOLLO, a realistic simulation of the lunar landing and docking operations of the Apollo-11 mission!

This is the most complete realistic simulation of a lunar landing that we have seen for any mobile device, and gives you a wide range of missions to try! Start off docked with the command module in a lunar orbit, and then separate from the command module to start your way down to the lunar surface. Once that is done, you can do the full de-orbit burn and orbital transfer from lunar orbit down to the touch-down phase of flight, all in REAL TIME with the actual weight, thrust, fuel capacity, and fuel burn of the REAL Apollo 11 lander.

Once you have done the de-orbit burn and orbit transfer, you enter the most challenging phase of flight: The POWERED DESCENT. During this phase of the mission, you must keep you TAIL pointed in the direction of flight, running FULL THRUST, to slow the craft from orbital speed to a standstill. This phase of flight, the 'Powered deceleration' is actually where you spend most of your time.

Once done with THAT, you enter the part of the simulation that you expect: The vertical descent and landing. This is all with actual performance of the REAL lander, right down to the radio callouts made by mission control as Neil and Buzz worked their way down in 1969.

Once you have aced the landing, you can rove around on the moon in the rover! This is a REALISTIC simulation of the 4-wheel drive, surprisingly speedy rover they used in reality, which is really fun to drive off, off, off, off, OFF-road in one-sixth gravity!

Once you have run the farthest off-road simulator ever written, you can do the launch of the lander back up towards the Command Module (waiting in orbit) and then dock the Lander with the Command Module!

During the development of the rockets and rovers that were used in the real Apollo program, they never had anything like this... this simulation is more realistic and powerful than anything they had... and you can buy it for just a few dollars.

X-Plane Carrier

THIS is the App you guys have been asking for: X-Plane CARRIER.

This app is the most realistic aerial combat simulation for any mobile device (by far), and is the most realistic carrier-ops simulation for any mobile device as well.

Your ultimate goal is to take off from the carrier, destroy your adversary in the air without being shot down yourself, and return to the carrier for landing.
You will receive a score based on your performance. How high how can you score? We have never managed to exceed a 90% here.

Catapults, guns, guided missiles, and arresting gear are all realistically simulated (more realistically than any other any mobile device app by far), giving you the ultimate aviation challenges of aircraft carrier operations and aerial combat in one simulation.

You will have access to the World-War-2 F4U Corsair, a screaming 350+ mph fighter packing two THOUSAND horsepower.
This goes against the nimble Japanese A6M 'Zero'... a much slower and less powerful, but much MORE MANEUVERABLE, adversary.
You can fly either plane against the other, to experiment in the advantages of speed versus maneuverability.

You can also try the mighty F-4 Phantom, with over thirty-two THOUSAND pounds of thrust, and four air-to-air guided missiles, and guns if those fail.
This bird flies against the surprisingly fast and agile Mig-21 Fishbed, which puts up an amazing fight with it's light weight and tight turns.
As well, you can take the Mig up against the Phantom to try the battle from the other side. Which plane is better in the dog-fight?

After winning the aerial engagement, of course, the battle is only half-won... you still have to put the plane on the carrier to FINISH your flight!
Google 'carrier landings' to learn how... what you see there DOES apply to this simulation... all of the X-Plane simulations are realistic enough that you can just research how to fly the REAL planes, and use that research to see how to fly X-Plane! Our instructions ARE THE DESCRIPTIONS OF HOW TO FLY THE REAL PLANE. The X-Plane simulations are actually that realistic.

Once you have licked the violent aerial engagements and tricky carrier operations in day, night, clear, cloudy, calm, and windy conditions, battling all different sorts of adversaries in all different sorts of weather at all times of day, you can move on to MULTIPLAYER! This gets really, really, fun, of course, because this is the first-ever X-Plane simulation where you can shoot your opponent down to a flaming, horrible death.

Ready to try it?

X-Plane Extreme

X-Plane Extreme is by far the most difficult X-Plane iPhone App I have ever coded.

This is because now we are really getting into the hard stuff: the tricky and demanding propulsion and flight-control systems that make X-Plane so complex.

NOW we are getting into flight-modeling that gets as tricky to manage as X-Plane for desktop, and the results show it:
We have some of the most unusual, fast, maneuverable, or advanced planes ever made... EACH with it's own unique control systems that radically effect the way the plane handles, and how it must be flown. The F-22, B-1, B-2, and SR-71 with X-Plane Extreme are simply stunningly different to fly... much more so than any other planes for X-Plane. As well, we have recently added the B-52 and the X-15! Google 'X-15' to see how these two planes work together.

We start with the F-22 Raptor.
The Raptor is by far the most maneuverable and powerful fighter in the sky... nobody else comes remotely close.
An interesting point of the Raptor is that the thrust vectors up and down to steer the craft.
This lets the plane pitch the nose up and down with full authority even at zero speed, simply by vectoring the thrust.
The F-22 can in fact hang motionless on the engines. But this comes at a cost: When you chop the power, you lose that lift and maneuverability!
Can you handle the Raptor in all phases of flight, from 0 to 1,000 knots, and all power settings from idle to maximum?

We then move to the SR-71 Blackbird.
This is the fastest airplane in the world, exceeding Mach-3, exceeding 70,000 feet.
Managing this airplane is sort of like balancing 3 checkbooks at once: Can you work out the speed, altitude, and flight control to see well over Mach-3 at well over 70,000 feet,
and still make it back to the airport and get stopped on the runway?

Now the B-1 'Bone' Bomber.
The B-1 has almost full-span flaps, spoilers for roll control, and differentially-deflecting all-moving stabilators to aid in roll control.
Despite the huge flaps and multiple roll controls, this huge ungainly bird still has terribly high stall speeds and limited roll rate due to it's high weight...
if you can get this plane around the sky and down in one piece, you are doing well!
We also have a new slider to complement the throttle, trim, flaps, and speedbrakes: WING SWEEP!
Use this in the B-1... but only above 500 knots or you will go down like a lawn dart! You will eat dirt at 400 knots.

The harbinger of the Apocalypse: The B-2 'Jet' Bomber:
The B-2 has.. umm... no tail. At all. No vertical stabilizer. No horizontal stabilizer. And no flaps.
Ailerons on the wingtips split open to add drag on the left or right side of the plane to give yaw-control!
A fly-by-wire system coupled to multiple flight-control surfaces makes this airplane manageable, and really rather nice to fly.

The missile with a man in it.. the X-15.
This plane was dropped from a B-52 bomber like a bomb, and then flown by hand INTO SPACE. Once the plane exhausted it's fuel, it glided back down to Edwards for landing. This high-speed and hi-altitude research refined much of the engineering ultimately used on the Space Shuttle program!

>ALLFrom Zero-Speed to Mach-3-plus, from surface to 100,000 feet, at the engineering-level of accuracy that X-Plane for desktop has... can you handle them?

As well, for the first on iPhone, we have OTHER planes for you to chase around.
These other planes race though the mountains and canyons, supersonic in some cases, with realistic physics.
Can you stick with them?

X-Plane Glider

This is X-Plane GLIDER, a REALLY fun little X-Plane app that lets you do some really fun GLIDING!

Here is how it works: You start off in either of 2 gliders: A nice Ask-21 composite trainer, or a Schemp-Hirth high-performance sailplane. You are on the runway, with a towplane in front of you, engine running, ready to go. Release the brakes to command the towplane to take off and away you go! The towplane will take you as high as you like, and you will hold formation behind him as he pulls you to altitude.

WARNING!! THE TOW-ROPE THAT ATTACHES YOUR PLANE TO HIS IS HOOKED TO HIS TAIL, AND YOUR NOSE, WITH REALISTIC PHYSICS. IF YOU PULL YOUR GLIDER LEFT, RIGHT, UP, OR DOWN, IT WILL PULL HIS TAIL IN THAT DIRECTION, PULLING HIM OFF COURSE, OR ULTIMATELY INTO A STALL OR SPIN IF YOU PULL TOO HARD. AT THIS POINT, YOU WILL HAVE CAUSED THE TOWPLANE TO CRASH, WHICH IS ESPECIALLY PROBLEMATIC SINCE YOU ARE ATTACHED TO HIM WITH A TOW-ROPE! The dynamics of the resulting crash are... 'interesting' ;-)

Once you have gotten a successful ride to altitude, the REAL fun begins: GLIDING! X-Plane glider simulates RIDGE LIFT.
This is a phenomenon where the WIND blows UP and OVER the mountains, climbing or descending to follow the contours of the terrain.
Your mission as a glider pilot is pretty clear: Watch the wind and the slope of the terrain carefully to hold inside the UPWARD-MOVING areas of air, using the lift of the air flowing UP the mountain-slope to hold you aloft! If you set a good 25-knot wind, and then fly along the WINDWARD side of a nice steep mountain, then you can get a really nice free elevator ride to 10,000 feet in the right flying regions! This is called RIDGE LIFT.

Innsbruck, Austria, as well as a number of other amazing flying regions are provided to let you soar across all manner of amazing terrain with steep, tall mountains, watching that wind indicator in the lower-left to see what the wind direction and speed are, then hunting for the perfect mountain-slope at a right angle to that wind, pushing the air up into a free elevator for you to ride to altitude!

Helping you along is an instrument called the TOTAL ENERGY VARIOMETER. If it is BEEPING, then you have found a nice updraft from the air following the terrain... circle in that area to ride the climbing air to altitude! If you hear a STEADY tone, then you are in DESCENDING air... you have probably let yourself be blown to the wrong side of the mountain!!! You are now in DESCENDING air, and a crash will follow
soon if you do not find a way out of that area!

Now, here is where it gets REALLY crazy: MULTIPLAYER! You can do multiplayer gliding with your friends, working on formation flying with gliders (do the RANDOM START to start
in the air... you can see your friend as an icon in the bottom-center of the screen to fly to meet him), or, for more fun than a barrel full of monkeys, ONE of you should get in the Cessna 172 that is provided with the sim, and tow the other person aloft! With one of you acting as the towplane, and the other as the glider, you can have fun finding the perfect place to soar. BUT, READ THE TEXT ABOVE ON HOW IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE GLIDER TO CRASH THE TOWPLANE! Hold position right behind the towplane carefully.. unless, of course, you WANT him to crash! ;-) After all... you can always RELEASE the tow-rope after you have put your friend in a spin, leaving him to crash as you go soaring! ;-)

PS: OK one more note: We just added a MOTORGLIDER for you as well... so you can motor on up to altitude and shut down the engine and glide as well, if you like!

X-Plane HDEF-4G

FOR IPHONE4 AND IPOD4 WITH RETINA DISPLAY ONLY, this is the most compact and powerful X-Plane we have ever created. We have combined the airplanes from X-Plane Racing, Airliner, Extreme, Helicopter, Glider, and more from the iPod, iPhone, and iPad into ONE app. X-Plane HDEF-4G has all the resolution and power and graphics of the iPad compressed onto the 4. This, coupled with the code being optimized for the iphone 4 processor and graphics, results in a more tightly detailed and hi-speed app than we have ever seen for any mobile platform... ever.

With aircraft carriers, air combat, F-22, B-1, B-2, X-15, SR-71, A-380, Boeing 787, and countless more airplanes all represented with accurate flight dynamics, and over a dozen flying areas, and near-infinite weather conditions available, the power of this app is simply mind-boggling.

X-Plane Helicopter

A quick note: Most of the negative reviews seem to come from people that do not READ the instructions, despite them being displayed every single time the app is launched... so read the instructions! They are only about 4 sentences. Here's what you need to know:

->The throttle is automatically controlled for you.

->You drag the collective DOWN to INCREASE pitch... a situation that is ergonomically the same as real helos.
REMEMBER: IN THE REAL HELO, YOU PULL THE COLLECTIVE HANDLE >TOWARDSTOWARDS
And now, on with the show! X-Plane Helicopter is a new version of X-Plane that lets you realistically fly Helicopters!

You get some very interesting birds to fly, including:

The Robinson R-22: The lightweight, efficient trainer.
The Bell-206: The turbine-powered mainstay of the helicopter fleet.
The BlackHawk: The massive military cargo and troop mover.
The Sea King: The huge land/sea rescue helicopter.
The Sikorsky S-76, an amazing luxurious executive-transport.

These fascinating and varied machines are modeled very realistically, so the flight you get on the iPhone is actually almost as realistic as the full FAA-Certified flight-model used in X-Plane for desktop... You get almost all the flight-model realism of this certified sim: On your phone.

As well, the default flight-area is the Grand Canyon, giving you amazing views as you fly your helos across (and into!) the various canyons and valleys, giving the you most visually-stunning simulation we have yet released, with the most challenging and realistic flight-models we have produced for iPhone so far. As well, X-Plane Helicopter comes with a number of other flying areas to keep things varied and interesting!

Now, a quick lesson: The COLLECTIVE control is on the LEFT of the iPhone screen... drag it DOWN GENTLY to INCREASE the pitch of the main rotor, thus causing the helo to lift. As you drag this collective down, you will notice that the throttle AUTOMATICALLY increases on the right side of the screen. This is because the throttle governor automatically increases the engine power to maintain the desired rotor RPM as you increase the load on the rotor by increasing the rotor pitch. This is how the real helicopters work, and how we simulate them on the iPhone.

The tail-rotor is controlled with a horizontal slider on the bottom of the screen. Flying a helicopter in reality is well known to be one of the more challenging and rewarding facets of aviation... the most difficult to do, but the most rewarding when you manage to do it all properly.

If you are ready for the best scenery and most fascinating and challenging flight model available on the iPhone, then you are ready for X-Plane-Helicopter.

X-Plane REMOTE

This is X-Plane REMOTE, a REALLY cool app to run with your desktop-computer copy of X-Plane! Simply go to the NET CONNECTIONS window in X-Plane 9.30 or later, INET-3 tab to activate it. NOTE: THIS APP DOES WORK WITH OLD POWER-PC MACS, DESPITE THE OBSOLETE REVIEW TO THE CONTRARY. Earlier versions of X-Plane had to be Intel-only, but we now work with old Power-PC as well.

Here is how it works: You can use your IPHONE or IPODTOUCH as WIRELESS JOYSTICK for your desktop computer flying X-Plane! This is amazing because if you are ever traveling and do NOT have you joystick with you, you can simply use your iPhone or iPod Touch as a WIRELESS JOYSTICK for your copy of X-Plane on your laptop or desktop Mac or PC! COOL!

And it gets better: You can control the throttle, flaps, speedbrakes, landing gear, and brakes on your desktop or laptop copy of X-Plane with this app, just like you do in the iPhone version of X-Plane!

As well, X-Plane REMOTE can show a General Aviation, Biz-Aviation, EFIS, or Space-Shuttle COCKPITS on your iPhone, so you can fly your desktop or laptop copy of X-Plane in FULL-SCREEN scenery mode, seeing the instrument panel of your choice on your phone as you tilt your phone to fly X-Plane!

AS WELL, X-Plane REMOTE can simply show a MOVING MAP, letting your iPod or iPhone turn into a simple external moving map for X-Plane as you fly.

One amazing use for this would be to use your iPhone as a wireless joystick and and external moving map to let you have a wireless joystick and wireless moving map whenever you travel with your laptop! (The AIRPORT on your laptop will send the signals to your iPhone!)

Another amazing use could be this: Imagine you hook up your desktop Mac or PC to a HUGE flat-screen TV in your living room, and set to AMAZING res, running in full-screen (no instrument panel!) mode, so yo have AMAZING scenery filling your entire TV... then, via airport, use your iPhone as a wireless joystick and instrument panel... with the throttles, flaps, speedbrakes, gear, brakes, and full instrument panel displays on your iPhone, you have all the controls and instruments to do a full flying regime, from sight-seeing to touch-and-gos to a FULL INSTRUMENT APPROACH PROCEDURES, INCLUDING ILS AND VOR APPROACHES.

...And, to top it all off, we have the SPACE SHUTTLE panel on your iPhone as well, so you can fly full (REALISTIC!) Space Shuttle re-entry procedures on your laptop or desktop, controlled by your phone.

This is simply stunning stuff.. a new wave of tech!

X-Plane Racing

This is X-Plane RACING, the FIRST-EVER X-Plane (for any platform, including desktop!) with timed race-courses that let you race against the computer, or your friends, in multiplayer-mode! This is the most polished and optimized version of X-Plane for iPhone yet!

Of course, as we always do with these types of features, we have also made multiplayer a FREE upgrade to ALL the X-Plane flavors... but we think it is the most FUN in RACING, where you can race through courses against your friends and compare times at the end!!!

So here is how it works: X-Plane RACING comes with 4 regions (for now.. of course we will add more in free upgrades, same as always) and 6 planes, with a race course for each plane in each region... a total of 24 race-courses. These course are presented as 'highway-in-the-sky' 'hoops' that you fly though, racing against the clock, right alongside the AI plane. X-Plane RACING will show you the time through the course, and number of hoops missed, at the end of the race. Can you fly faster than the AI plane? Some courses race down river-valleys.. others through mountain ranges, other through clouds. Some through snow-covered rocky mountains, others through desert. My favorite is the F-15 course in Anchorage, Alaska... can you handle it? To our knowledge, this is the most realistic flight physics for any aerial racing sim ever done. Pulling these peppy WW-2 fighters, or massive jets, through the hoops in the Mach 0.5 to Mach 1.25 range at low altitude through mountains and canyons is... special.

Then, once you get the hang of racing against the computer, it is time for MULTIPLAYER: Race against your friends! Who can get through the courses fastest? Both of your times are tracked and posted.

Racing, you can choose from the:

F-4-U Corsair: A tricky hi-speed fighter of World-War-2. Being a tail-dragger landing gear configuration, it will be VERY tricky to land. You must land in a full-stall, nose-high attitude. (BE SURE TO HOLD FULL-AFT STICK ON THE TAKEOFF ROLL IN THIS PLANE TO HOLD THE TAILWHEEL DOWN FOR STEERING AUTHORITY).

P-51 Mustang: The premier fighter of World-War-2 .Being a tail-dragger landing gear configuration, it will be VERY tricky to land. You must land in a full-stall, nose-high attitude. (BE SURE TO HOLD FULL-AFT STICK ON THE TAKEOFF ROLL IN THIS PLANE TO HOLD THE TAILWHEEL DOWN FOR STEERING AUTHORITY).

F-4 Phantom: The King of the 'Jet-Age', this plane is amazing to take through the desert canyons at Mach 1.25.

F-15 Eagle: This powerful machine is the pinnacle of pilot-friendly jet-power... IF you can handle Mach 1.25 between the mountain peaks of Alaska... can you?

F-86 Sabre: An amazing Korean-era jet.

We also have some new tweaks in here like tire-skidding sound that is accurately hooked up the street-racing-accurate tire-physics model, and visible afterburners, which are pretty darn cool on the F-4 Phantom!

X-Plane Seaplane

Now this a FUN little App.
Because you asked for it, we give you: X-Plane SEAPLANE.
We are starting off with a Canadair CL-415 Water-Bomber, Cessna 172 on floats, and a SeaKing twin-turbine helicopter to take driving, flying, and swimming.
All of these craft are amphibious, so they can handle water ops, as well as land on the paved runways.
Can you master the water take-offs and landings as well as the ones from dry-land?
Can you descend from hover in for a smooth water landing the SeaKing helo?
All of the dynamics here are realistic, and the new water rendering is pretty impressive… can you handle these flying and swimming challenges?
We can.. and they are pretty darn fun!

X-Plane for iPad

Welcome to the world of gliders, X-15's, F-22's, airliners, light planes, aircraft carriers, fighter jets, and much much much more, all in hi-res, and all in ONE HUGE APP, optimized to fill every single pixel of the iPad in ultimate detail.

We, the programmers of Laminar Research, announce X-Plane, optimized for for iPad!

X-Plane has been well known to be the most powerful, versatile, and accurate flight sim in the world, and is now available on the stunning new iPad platform!

The large screen and powerful processors of the iPad provide a tremendous amount of power that we have NOT seen in ANY mobile device to date.
As well, the huge touch-screen interface for cockpit control and accelerometer-based sensing for flight control allow an interface to the virtual cockpit that is simply amazing.

This newly-available power and size let X-Plane for iPad have stunning new graphics and interface that we have not yet seen in any mobile device.

Based on this amazing new power and interface, X-Plane for iPad includes new scenery terrain data at a much higher resolution than X-Plane for iPhone, with terrain textures that are FOUR TIMES AS DETAILED as our previous mobile simulations.

As well, X-Plane for iPad has airplane textures that are four times as detailed as previous mobile versions of X-Plane.

3-D buildings dot the terrain, with airport terminal buildings at Seattle, San Fran, and Innsbruk, Austria.

New instrument panels that are much more detailed than anything we have seen in any other mobile device grace the airplanes and helicopters.
These new instrument panels also have a fun new interface for changing radio frequencies that is uniquely suited to the iPad... you will have to TRY it to see how easy and intuitive it is!

As well, X-Plane for iPad maintains the best consumer-priced flight model of ANY flight simulator for ANY platform, so it REALLY FEELS LIKE FLYING as you soar through virtual terrains.

As well, we have a new interface for selecting airplanes and scenery that is really fun to use... simply swipe your way through images of aircraft and flying regions to choose your flight experience.

Also new is background Air Traffic Control radio chatter, to really give you the feeling of being in the cockpit of a real airplane, glider, or helicopter.

With the amazing new scenery offered by the power of the iPad, excellent flight model that we always expect from X-Plane, and a fun new interface, X-Plane for iPad provide a GREAT simulation experience as you fly through virtual worlds on your iPad.

X-Planner

I use this app before every flight in 428X, and it is AWESOME! It gives me the weight, balance, and exact time and fuel enroute, AND THE BEST ALTITUDE TO FLY based on winds, trip distance, and my plane's performance!

It is the perfect fun little planner, and here is the inside skinny:

X-Planner is a fun and simple little flight-planner that will plot your weight and CG for any flight in a light plane. Lots of pilots take off without checking the weight and balance, and now it is FUN to do this on your iPhone before flight!

As well, you can enter your aircraft climb and cruise performance (only needed once), and the winds (each flight) and your destination (each flight) and X-Planner will give you the estimated time and fuel expense for each altitude from 3,000 to 24,000 feet. (If your plane can go that high).

Despite a reviewer not SEEING it, X-Planner DOES give weight and balance for the entire flight. To see an example of this, look at the bright red line clearly visible in screenshot #3 immediately to the left of this text. The TOP of the line is the weight and CG at the CURRENT fuel load, and the BOTTOM of the line is the weight and CG when all fuel is gone. This clearly shows you the weight and center of gravity for the entire flight. If anyone claims he sees no line, he simply has not entered the weight and balance parameters properly for his plane!

As well, as you can see in screenshot #1 to the left of this text, X-Planner uses an extra-large keyboard to make typing very quick and easy... much more so than the small standard keyboard. Despite a reviewer not being able to figure out the advantage of a BIGGER keyboard, the larger-than-standard keyboard is very nice for quickly entering destinations in bright sun or strong glare or weather... MUCH nicer than a smaller standard one!

As well, the interface is very efficient, with no wasted space at all. As you can see in the screenshots at left, all entries are done with nice BIG buttons to make entry VERY EASY, with the extra space packed with all the cruise, climb, and enroute data to make everything you need to know visible at-a-glance!

As well, despite a reviewer apparently not being able to send and receive email, we DO answer ALL email sent to info@x-plane.com, our tech support email address. If you do not see a prompt answer from that email address, then our support department's reply is simply being held by your spam filter, or you did not type 'info@X-Plane.com' properly!

The interface is big and easy to read, even if some reviewers did not figure out the benefit of a large interface in the field.

The weight and balance line works perfectly, even if some reviewers did not set up their weight and balance limits properly.

We always answer all our emails (info@X-Plane.com!), even if some reviewers did not send and receive email properly.

With the extra-large keyboard, extra-large buttons to easily click on, 100% utilized screen-space showing all the data you entered, and easily-visible bright-red center of gravity line, this app is really powerful and easy to use! To fly without it, or something just as good as it, is to fly without knowledge of your best enroute altitude and power setting to minimize time and fuel burn!

I watch people have no idea if they are in weight and balance, and have no idea what altitude to fly, all the time. Now you can be sure of your weight, balance and altitude-selection every flight! If you choose your altitude to minimize fuel-burn, then this app will pay for itself in the first half of the first flight you use it.

X-Planner for iPad

This is the best flight-planner that I have seen for the iPad, and I use it every time I fly.

With a very user-friendly interface that is consistent with all the Laminar Research apps, you will enter your airplane's fuel burns, climb rates, and cruise speeds at various different altitudes. You will also enter the moment-arms of the fuel, passengers, baggage, and the CG envelope of your airplane. You will also enter your birthday, and the date of the your last annual, medical, BFR, and ins com-check.

Of course, you enter these things only once, and they are saved.

Once you have entered all of those things once, you can very quickly tell it how much your passengers and bags weigh, what the winds aloft are, and where you are going before each flight.

NOW THIS IS WHERE IT GETS GOOD: The app will then give you the expiration of your annual, medical, BFR, and ins-com check. It will tell you your weight, balance, time enroute, fuel used enroute, and GIVE YOU THE OPTIMUM ALTITUDE TO FLY THIS TRIP TO MINIMIZE TIME AND FUEL EXPENSE.

I see people bust off into the sky:
-with no idea if they are current,
-no idea if they are in balance,
-no idea how much time and fuel they will use to finish the trip,
-and no idea what the most efficient altitude is for their flight.

THIS APP SOLVES ALL OF THOSE PROBLEMS FOR YOU, if you feel like flying as professionally as I do. With this app, you will know that you are always current to survive a ramp-check, always in weight and balance to fly safely, always have the fuel and time allocated to complete the flight, and always know the optimum altitude to minimize your time and fuel expense. THIS is the way to know what you are doing up there and fly like a competent pro, like I do.
